Weightless, Timeless, and Truly Arctic – Only 2.5 km from Rovaniemi City
Sink into the stillness. Let the icy water cradle your body while you gaze at the stars, the northern sky – and perhaps even the Aurora Borealis dancing above you. At Roiske, floating is not just an activity – it’s a state of mind.
Surrounded by frozen wilderness, you’ll float safely and warmly just meters from our winter sauna base, sharing the same peaceful ice area where ice swimming and ice fishing take place. Floating is fully guided, requires no experience, and may become your most memorable moment in Lapland.
What You’ll Do
Your session begins with a calm briefing indoors, where your guide walks you through the floating process, safety, and dressing. You'll change into a professional-grade rescue dry suit, which keeps you completely dry and insulated – even in zero-degree water. Your own warm clothes are worn underneath.
Once dressed, you’ll walk to the maintained opening in the river ice, where your floating session begins. Simply lie back – and float. You are held gently by the water, fully buoyant and protected, in absolute Arctic silence.
This is not adrenaline. This is stillness, presence, and peace.
Floating Through the Seasons
Winter Floating (November–March)
Float in open Arctic water surrounded by thick river ice, often beneath the stars and northern lights. Truly unforgettable on clear evenings. Each session is adjusted for conditions and visibility.
Autumn Floating (September–October)
As darkness returns to Lapland, evening floats offer a different kind of beauty: soft light, silence, and the first glimpses of Aurora Borealis. The river is calm, and the peaceful shoreline provides a front-row seat to Arctic change.
